Stillwater North Of Scotland 50 Year Old Scotch Whisky (50cl) is a rare and remarkable single grain release from the now-silent North of Scotland Distillery, which ceased operations in 1980. Distilled in December 1971 and bottled in 2022 by Stillwater Whisky Co., this luxurious whisky is drawn from a single hogshead cask, offered at natural cask strength (42.2% ABV), non-chill filtered and natural in colour. Only 392 bottles were ever produced.
Over half a century of gentle maturation has resulted in an extraordinarily complex and elegant dram:
Nose: Intriguing aromas of hand-rolled tobacco, summer berries, freshly sawn oak, woodsmoke, banana, worn leather, and hints of eucalyptus
Palate: Luxurious mouthfeel with sweet nougat, candied apple, pecan nuts, vanilla pod, bonfire toffee and honeycomb
Finish: Long, balanced and warming; a gentle ABV belies the whisky's profound depth and ever-developing character
This is a whisky to savour slowly – a rare opportunity to experience a piece of Scotland’s distilling history. Perfect for seasoned collectors and connoisseurs of ultra-aged grain whisky.
