Blanc de Blancs was the first wine Nyetimber ever produced, back in 1992. This 2013 has an enticing golden colour, tiny bubbles and delicate aromas. Aromas of fresh citrus are balanced with floral notes, and leading on to a rich pastry and brioche characters. Toasty and complex – as classic Blanc de Blancs should be.
Light gold hue and a fine, delicate mousse. Aromas of citrus and honeysuckle lead into subtle brioche and vanilla characters. The palate offers generous yet elegant notes of baked lemon and white peach with the warmth of the vintage shining through. Subtle mineral notes accentuate the fresh, crisp acidity, leading to a long and complex finish.
A warm start to the year saw a slightly earlier budburst than average, contributing to some frost damage in the Hampshire vineyards. Fine and warm weather continued through to July, with good and timely flowering and fruitset. A cooler August followed, slightly delaying veraison, but a warm September led to gradual ripening of all three varieties before harvest began in the first week of October. Overall, the warm, fine conditions of the growing season led to an excellent quality harvest with ripe fruit flavours and beautifully balanced acidity.
