Ruinart is the oldest Champagne house which started selling bottles of Champagne from 1729. Prior to that the family's business was really cotton, but as they began to provide customers free bottles of Champagne as a 'thank you' the demand for their fizz quickly meant that their attentions were soon fully on Champagne rather than the business of old. Today the cellars are beautiful and a World Heritage site in their own right.
Inspired by Dom Thierry Ruinart, founder of the House, the Dom Ruinart cuvees are made from the finest Chardonnay wine. As the ambassador of the Ruinart expertise, Dom Ruinart vintage promises an unforgettable tasting experience. Dom Ruinart Vintage is blended exclusively from Chardonnay Grand Crus grapes, with 66% from the Cotes Des Blancs and 34% from north of the Montagne de Reims vineyards.
Tasting Note: Dom Ruinart 2010 has a luminous and intense colour which contains iridescent green glints. On the nose, there is a hit of chalk, followed by flint and oyster shell notes which mingle with the smoky aromas of blonde tobacco. The nose continues into springtime notes, underscored with light aromas of sap, linden acacia, extremely fresh yellow and green citrus fruits and plums. The subtle notes of fig leaf, liquorice and fine Chinese tea enhance the complexity of the aromatic bouquet. The palate, which begins smoothly, quickly reveals a thrilling, stony liveliness and a deep intensity structured by notes of green citrus and grapefruit. The sap-infused and chalky finish is framed with an elegant bitter flavour. Dom Ruinart 2010 is a dynamic, sculpted wine that expresses the full purity of fine Chardonnay.
