After an atypical weather year that raised hopes for the best and then fears for the worst, nature was finally merciful for the 2008/09 harvest.
Thanks to rigorous grape selection, and a talented chef de caves who used the finest terroirs in the blend of this superb wine, the Boizel House reveals the personality of a vintage with its unique, outstanding character in this Grand Vintage 2008/09 .
The blend is composed of 40% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier, 3% of the wines was aged in oak casks.
Tasting notes
The dark gold color with shades of ash blond, the sign of an admirable maturity, is luminous and scattered with persistent fine bubbles.
The slight amber notes are the result of 7 years of patient ageing on lees, enabling a lovely concentration of aromas and flavors.
The wide, open bouquet offers dry fruit notes (almonds) and gourmet accents (biscuit). Delicate scents of flowers, ripe fruit (apricot) and licorice give this vintage a subtly affirmed character in an impression of softness and tenderness.
The palate is crisp, fresh and clear, combined with a sensation of vinosity and delicacy.
An intense, powerful, truly great champagne with rare elegance.
